You cannot inadvertently, accidentally or consequently commit the offence of “Tipping Off”.
There needs to be a deliberate act undertaken with an intent to alert a customer/third party
and /or frustrate or prevent a criminal investigation into money laundering.
No laws are designed to trip people up. We can and should speak to customers if we need
more information.
Tipping Off cannot accidentally occur. It has to be an intent to help a customer and/or
frustrate an investigation.
