Why Become a Member?
Membership is Included with Every GCI Certification Program
When you enrol in any GCI certification program, your registration already includes one year of GCI Membership at no additional cost.

During your active membership, you will enjoy access to a wide range of exclusive benefits, including:
- Candidate Portal access
- Program study guides
- Practice questions
- Online examination scheduling
- Online-verifiable digital badge
- Online-verifiable e-certificate
- Updated editions of study materials as they become available
- Complimentary CPD-accredited webinars and professional development opportunities
- Articles and insights about industry updates
Why Renew Your Membership?
Membership renewal is entirely optional, but many of our certified professionals choose to renew because it allows them to continue benefiting from GCI's growing range of professional resources and services.
By maintaining an active membership, you can continue to enjoy:
- Online verification of your digital certificate and digital badge
- Access to the Candidate Portal
- Updated study guides and newly released editions
- Complimentary CPD-accredited webinars
- Professional news and educational resources
- Future member-exclusive benefits and services
Our membership renewal fees are intentionally kept affordable to encourage continuous professional development rather than creating unnecessary financial obligations.

Our Certification Maintenance Philosophy
At GCI, we believe professional certification should recognise achievement — not create ongoing financial obligations.
Unlike some certification providers that require expensive recertification fees or mandatory renewals simply to keep a credential active, GCI follows a different philosophy.
We believe that continuing professional development should primarily benefit the certified professional and their employer. We also recognise that meaningful learning comes from a variety of reputable sources rather than a single organisation.
For this reason, we actively encourage lifelong learning by offering complimentary educational opportunities, including CPD-accredited webinars, while allowing professionals the freedom to pursue development wherever they choose.
Your Certification Does Not Expire
Once you successfully complete a GCI certification examination, your certification remains valid.
Your professional achievement is permanent and does not expire simply because your membership has lapsed.
However, certain membership-related services remain available only while your membership is active, including:
- Online-verifiable digital certificate
- Online-verifiable digital badge
- Candidate Portal access
- Updated study materials and future editions
- Member benefits and professional resources
Maintaining an active membership allows you to continue accessing these services, but it is never a requirement for retaining the certification you have earned.
Fair and Transparent Membership Renewal
We believe membership renewal should be fair.
If your membership expires, you may renew it at any time through the Candidate Portal.
Unlike many organisations, GCI applies your renewed membership from the date you renew, not from the date your previous membership expired.
This means you are never charged for periods during which you did not maintain an active membership.
Our goal is to provide maximum flexibility while avoiding unnecessary financial commitments for our members.
Membership Renewal is Always Your Choice
Every candidate receives one year of membership when enrolling in a GCI certification program.
After that initial year, renewing your membership is entirely your decision.
If you choose not to renew:
- Your certification remains valid. But your digital badge and e-certificate will be shown as expired. If you want to continue enjoying this service, you need to renew your membership.
- You are not required to retake your examination.
- You are not required to purchase the certification program again.
- There are no penalties simply because your membership has expired.
This allows each professional to decide whether the additional membership benefits are valuable to their own career and professional development.
Membership and Certification Are Different
It is important to distinguish between membership and certification.
Membership
- Begins on the date you enrol in a certification program.
- Provides access to GCI services and member benefits.
- May be renewed at your discretion.
Certification
- Is awarded after successfully passing the certification examination.
- Represents your professional achievement.
- Remains valid regardless of whether your membership is renewed.
The validity period displayed for your digital certificate and digital badge reflects your active e-certificate status rather than the validity of your membership.
Flexible Examination Policy
We understand that personal and professional circumstances sometimes delay examination plans.
If your membership expires before you take your examination, you do not need to purchase the certification program again.
Simply renew your membership through the Candidate Portal and schedule your examination.
You will not be charged another program fee or additional examination fee solely because time has passed since your original enrolment.
Our Philosophy
GCI certification programs are designed to be flexible, affordable, and candidate-focused.
We believe professional certifications should recognise achievement, encourage lifelong learning, and remain accessible throughout a professional's career.
A useful comparison is a university degree. Once an individual graduates, the degree remains theirs permanently. They are not required to pay annual fees simply to keep the qualification. Instead, they continue learning, developing professionally, and staying current within their field.
GCI follows the same philosophy.
We encourage our members to maintain an active membership because it provides valuable resources, online-verifiable credentials, updated learning materials, and ongoing CPD opportunities. However, these benefits remain optional rather than mandatory.
Our objective is simple:
Recognise professional achievement permanently while supporting continuous learning through flexible, affordable, and member-focused services.
